Seaweed at the NutraIngredients Awards: Our Finalist Innovative Product – Seaweed& Protect.
Seaweed& Protect is a fine powder, with each individual particle specially coated using proprietary techniques with a thin layer of plant protein (micro-encapsulated seaweed). The coating has been proven to protect key nutrients during digestion, allowing them to be released in the body where you most need them. Furthermore, the ingredient has a neutral flavour and aroma, thus protecting your finished products from savoury seaweed flavours that may not be well suited.
Our own Dr Craig Rose is involved in research with Newcastle University Medical School to advance the understanding of the health and nutritional benefits of Seaweed & Co.’s seaweed ingredients, having carried out research which shows the innovation to be full of promise. As reported in Nutrition Insight, the micro-encapsulated seaweed allows the protection of key nutrients during digestion, with improved and targeted release in the small intestine.
